A Closer Look

One of the most important things to remember during hardship is that with God, nothing goes to waste. The Apostle Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 1:4, that God “comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.”

When you allow this reality to sink in, you can go from feeling sorry for yourself to being empowered to lift up another brother or sister in Christ. It’s a completely different mentality. The way it’s possible is because of the one who comforts us. Sure, you can be a great mentor to someone else based on what you’ve learned independently, however, this mentorship will have limits. With God, this isn’t the case.

In the previous verse, Paul describes our Heavenly Father as the God of all comfort, and then He goes on to say that because our God of all comfort comforts us, we then can comfort those in any trouble.

Sometimes in these moments of severe trial or overbearing temptation, that last thing you think of is that you’ll be able to help someone else because of what you’re going through. Yet with God in the equation, no trouble is limited to His redemption -none, He is the God of all comfort. You just have to be willing to let Him use you.
