A Closer Look

Hillsong’s hit song So Will I speaks to how creation testifies of it’s Creator. Psalm 148:7 says “Praise the Lord from the earth, you great sea creatures and all ocean depths.”

The Psalmist goes on to rhyme off a number of other pieces of nature that praise the Lord from the earth, including a place that I’m sure has stood out to you - mountains and hills.

About five years ago, I was with a couple of friends in Norway, we were doing a hike overlooking a rather beautiful waterfall. I remember as we got to the ascent of the mountain, I was just enamored by what I was seeing, my natural response was to start humming a worship song. As I looked back at my friends behind me, I couldn’t believe it. They were singing along to worship too. They had some Christian background, that’s it.

I was shocked. But do you know what they told me? These songs about God are the only thing that could reflect what they were seeing. God’s creation demands a response of worship even from those who don’t Him personally. As you take in His beauty around you, are you responding in worship?
