A Closer Look

There was this woman in Capernaum, and when she noticed Jesus she flocked to him and poured expensive perfume on his feet. The Pharisees who considered this woman to have lived a sinful life questioned why she would do this, why this was okay.

And Jesus responds in Luke 7:47 “I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven - as her great love has shown. But whoever has been forgiven little loves little.” And here’s why I bring this up, I think we all know at least one person who has the kind of conversion story that you could make a film about. Before Jesus they’re life was the furthest thing from him.

But don’t you also notice that with these people - that they’re usually  really quick to talk about what Jesus has done in their life. Sure, you could say they’ve got a more compelling story than you, but as we learn from this woman, to share God’s love is about having received a great forgiveness. So what does this look like then? Well, Whoever has been forgiven a lot, loves a lot. We’ll be more compelled to share our faith when we come to terms with how broken we are.
