A Closer Look

Lately I’ve been in one of my favourite books in the Bible – the Psalms.

You’ve got to love the Psalms right, such wisdom, especially about things like composure. I don’t know about you, but when I’ve got a big event coming up - a sports game or a canoe trip – I’m just counting down the days, I just want to get there.

In Psalm 90 we find Moses praying and at one point he asks God to help him in a big way, he says in verse 12: Teach us to number our days that we may gain a heart of wisdom.

What Moses prays is not that he would have an exciting activity to look forward to for every day on his calendar, but that he would make the most of each day. That he wouldn’t look past it because it’s a Friday heading into a weekend or write it off since it’s a Monday. It also doesn’t matter the condition you find yourself in.

Moses, who’s praying this prayer, he wasn’t called by God to lead the Israelites until he was 80. To number your days is to maximize the moment in front of you.

You’re here and you’re here for a reason. All you have to worry about it today.
