“God doesn’t call the equipped, He equips the called.” When you hear that, there’s usually a verse that goes along with it.

Paul tells Timothy in 1 Timothy 4:12, “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.”

It’s people like Timothy who have inspired our youth to point people to Jesus through making music, helping the poor, and advocating for justice. And while it’s one thing for your character to help earn you respect in what you’re doing, it’s another to be affirmed by God. Paul reminds Timothy a couple verses later - to not to neglect his gift. This is the second time he mentions this, Timothy was prophesied to be a Pastor: a church leader.

Sure, living a godly life will inspire us and inspire those around us, but to have God’s approval on what you’re doing, that should give you the most inspiration. You might not get a prophecy like Timothy, but God does affirm in His Word how you ought to live. We need to ensure it’s Him who is inspiring us in our lives first, and not our good deeds. Don’t let others look down on you, look up to God to ensure that you are where you should be.
