A Closer Look
Culture At A Crossroads
Season 2, Episode 7
Freelance journalist Dana Lewis joins the show to share his experience covering the biggest news stories in the world. Dana has spent time in 55 countries. He'll share what it was like to be one of the first to Afghanistan after 9/11, and the first North American to interview Vladimir Putin after becoming president of Russia in 2000. The former Fanshawe College student explains that to be a great journalist means it’s not about you, but about the story. Plus, the risk that comes in journalism while traveling to other countries could be life or death. And, the trouble of mixing politics and religion.
He also dives deep into Russia since the collapse of the Soviet Union and explains why many people are feeling cheated. And the original reason that he volunteered to go to Jerusalem.
